New Horizon Europe project IRIS-XR launches to power next-gen extended reality
IRIS-XR is a new Horizon Europe project developing next-generation Extended Reality technologies for more immersive, intelligent and trustworthy experiences. Bringing together eight partners from five European countries, the project combines advanced displays, integrated sensing, eye tracking and AI-powered interaction. Its innovations will be validated in three real-world environments: healthcare, flight simulation and automotive design.

Researchers from the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU), and the Max Planck Institute for Informatics (MPII) presented their latest research at SIGGRAPH 2026 on 21 July 2026 in Los Angeles, USA.
The paper introduces a framework for reconstructing the absolute 3D pose and shape of the hands using only a single head-mounted RGB camera.

IRIS-XR Logotype
The IRIS-XR logotypes provide the official versions of the project’s visual identity in multiple formats and colour variations, including vertical and horizontal layouts, as well as primary, alternative, and neutral versions.
